María Alejandra Bredeston
María Alejandra Bredeston (b. Córdoba, Argentina, 1971) received a degree in printmaking from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (UNC) in 1997 and participated in analysis and production workshops sponsored by Fundación Antorchas. She has had solo exhibitions since 1990 and her prints, photographs, and art objects have been included in numerous group exhibitions in Córdoba, Buenos Aires, the United States, Canada, and London. She has collaborated on several theatrical works as a playwright and assistant director and has been invited to festivals such as Festival de Teatro del Mercosur in Córdoba and Theater der Welt in Germany. Currently, Bredeston teaches at UNC and is a production assistant at the Department of Culture at the Goethe-Institut in Córdoba. Her recent work deals with topics such as personal memory and identity.
Sara Inés Carpio
Sara Inés Carpio (b. Córdoba, 1966) has a degree in painting and plastic arts/painting education from UNC and was awarded a Special Mention by that institution. Her paintings, prints, and installations have been shown since 1989 in solo and group exhibitions. She has also created literary/graphic publications using photography as a medium. She currently paints and teaches.
Azul Ceballos
Azul Ceballos (b. Córdoba, 1979) received a degree in painting from UNC in 2002. Exhibitions of her work have taken place at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Centro Cultural Borges, and Centro Cultural San Martín, all in Buenos Aires. In Córdoba she exhibited video art and interactive installation pieces at UNC. In 2000 she was awarded the Sony Corporation's International Prize in Berlin, Germany and the Intercampus Fellowship in Valencia, Spain. Ceballos also collaborated on a collective work for the Centro Cultural Spain-Córdoba. She currently resides in New York City.
Jorge Díaz
Jorge Díaz (b. Mendoza, Argentina, 1958; d. Córdoba, 2003) was a graduate in psychology as well as an actor and theatre director. Beginning in 1988 he taught in the theatre program in the Escuela de Artes at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. In 1998 he formed the group Proyecto Pluja TCM, devoted to researching and staging new forms of dramaturgy. He participated in several national and international festivals.
Graciela Edith Rasgido
Graciela Edith Rasgido's (b. Catamarca, Argentina, 1961) work has been shown in individual and group exhibitions since 1993. She has been involved in community art projects and she also worked in the Museo Emilio Caraffa's educational program. Currently, she is working with a non-profit organization on an interdisciplinary project that takes place in prisons in the city of Córdoba.
Guillermo Alessio
Guillermo Alessio (b. Córdoba, 1959) has a degree in sculpture from UNC. He currently teaches at UNC and at the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas L.E. Spilimbergo. Since 1980 his work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions of plastic arts. He has been a member of the public art collective Urbomaquia since 2001.
Liliana di Negro
Liliana di Negro (b. Córdoba, 1962) has a degree in sculpture. Since 1995 she has taught at UNC, where she is now completing a doctorate in art. She has participated in several group exhibitions, and from 1997 to 1999 she was a member of the group La Saeta, which performed urban interventions in private spaces. She currently works as a plastic artist in film and theatre. She has been a member of the public art collective Urbomaquia since 2001.
Magui Lucero
Magui Lucero (b. Villa Mercedes, San Luis, Argentina, 1962) has a degree in sculpture from UNC. She currently resides in Córdoba and teaches at UNC. Since 1982 she has participated in several solo and collective shows, receiving recognition at the municipal, provincial and national level. In 2003 she was on a fellowship in Valencia, Spain. She has been a member of the public art collective Urbomaquia since 2001.
Sandra Mutal
Sandra Mutal (b. Córdoba, 1962) has a degree in printmaking from UNC, where she has taught since 1989. From 1982 to 2000 she participated in several national and international solo and group exhibitions. From 1997 to 2000 she was involved in Costuras Urbanas, a group devoted to art in non-conventional spaces, with whom she presented work in Córdoba, Mendoza, and Buenos Aires. She has been a member of the public art collective Urbomaquia since 2001, performing interventions in Córdoba, Valencia, Rosario, Mendoza, and Misiones. Her work has been cited in several books on contemporary art as well as in numerous local and national critical publications.
Maurício Dias & Walter Riedweg
Currently residents of Rio de Janeiro, Dias and Riedweg have collaborated since 1993 on interdisciplinary public art projects throughout the world. Maurício Dias was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1964 and studied at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and the Schule fuer Gestaltung in Basel, Switzerland. Walter Riedweg was born in Lucerne, Switzerland in 1955. He studied at the Musik-Akademie in Lucerne and the Sculoa di Teatro Dimitri in Verscio, Switzerland and participated in workshops in the Department of Performance Studies at New York University. Dias and Riedweg attempt to take art toward a space where it can critically reflect on the image that individuals have of themselves and of the culture in which they participate, employing visual arts, music, performance, and documentary work to create complex video installations. They have participated in prominent international exhibitions including the biennials of Istanbul, San Pablo, and Venice, the Trienale InSite of San Diego/Tijuana, and Arte Cidade in San Pablo. Their first retrospective exhibition, curated by Catherine David, is currently on a tour that includes several museums in Brazil and Europe.
